Geographical location

Oberbruch Industry Park in Heinsberg is located in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) and is equidistant from the cities of Cologne, Düsseldorf and Aachen. Heinsberg lies close to the Dutch and Belgian borders and enjoys the reputation of being the most westerly town in Germany. The industrial estate is situated in the heart of the cross-border conurbation formed by the cities of Cologne, Düsseldorf, Aachen, Maastricht and Liège.

Thanks to its favourable location – on the one hand close to major agglomerations, and on the other hand surrounded by attractive countryside – the Heinsberg region has experienced strong growth in population. This trend also reflects the fact that land is in plentiful supply, and at affordable prices.

North Rhine-Westphalia is the most densely populated state in the Federal Republic of Germany. Over 18 million people (530 people per km²) inhabit an area of 34,082 square kilometres between the rivers Rhine, Ruhr and Weser – almost as many as in Australia or in the US state of New York. Close on 150 million people – or one third of all the consumers in the enlarged EU – live within one day’s truck drive from the regional capital, Düsseldorf.
