| Government Minister Pinkwart visits "Innovation Location" Oberbruch Industrial Park |
 |
"Boost for industrial park", "Industrial park anticipates new establishment of businesses", "Minister Pinkwart learns about million euro investment in Oberbruch" – these were some of the headlines on Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart’s visit to Oberbruch Industrial Park. The regional and national press, television and radio reported.
On 10th August North Rhine-Westphalia’s minister for innovation, science, research and technology visited Toho Tenax Europe and Nuon Energie und Service. He was accompanied by Mayor Josef Offergeld and Free Democrat District Chairman Felix Becker.
Hans-Dieter Gölden, managing director of Toho Tenax Europe, explained the process of modern carbon fibre manufacture. Ton Doesburg, managing director of Nuon Germany, introduced the company and Jakob Wöllenweber, managing director of NUON Energie und Service, discussed the future opportunities offered by the industrial park. The minister then went to see the production plant and the new line 3, which is to be inaugurated on 29th September.
At the closing press conference the minister stressed that both because of its technology and because of its operator and marketing strategy the Oberbruch location represents a high standard of innovation. He was pleased to note that with the new line 64 further jobs were being created at Toho Tenax. This 40-million-€ investment is also benefiting German engineering, because in return German machines could also be used in Japan. "This shows how important it is for us to do more than just work at the drawing board and develop ourselves as a service location," said Pinkwart. "We also need production at the highest technological level. And it is therefore important to create the correct general conditions for this."
In this connection the minister mentioned the activities of NUON Energie und Service, which with its innovative concept of a private operator in close collaboration with the city is regarded as a model for other locations. Pinkwart mentioned the worldwide network which Nuon has successfully built up to market the industrial park and announced in this connection that Nuon is engaged in close negotiation with international potential relocators and is expecting a fresh boost from this. Jakob Wöllenweber, managing director of NUON Energie und Service, declared to the press, "In the past we have already made every effort and shall in future, as operator, continue to do everything conceivably possible and work with undiminished energy to achieve a turnaround for the location."
With a view to future development at the location the minister stressed that Heinsberg has sufficiently qualified personnel and attractive jobs to offer. He believes there are now opportunities in even closer collaboration with the local universities, particularly with regard to the topic of waste disposal linked to carbon fibre manufacture.
